Opening concert for Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU

Free concert event at the Freedom Sqare in Tallinn to celebrate the beginning of Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Among the performers were the Children’s Singing Studio of Estonian Radio with conduction by Kaie Tanner and Kadri Hunt, Estonian Cello Ensemble, Estonian Voices, Frankie Animal, Genka, Kadri Voorand, Kukerpillid, Mari Jürjens, Miljardid, NOËP, Vaiko Eplik, Winny Puhh, joint choir with conductor Veronika Portsmuth and dancers with choreographer Arolin Raudva. All the performances were stitched together into a cohesive whole by composer and DJ Sander Mölder. The choreographer was Arolin Raudva and theatrical special effects were created by Trikivabrik.

The „digital thicket“ that decorated the stages and the square, told the story of Estonian presidency – „Unity Through Balance“. Comprising of almost 7 cubic metres of thick wood and 700 identical wooden elements, the design was created by the winners of Young Architect’s Award Sille Pihlak ja Siim Tuksam from the architectural practice PART.

The citizens were greeted by the President of the European Council Donald Tusk, the President of the European Parliament Jean-Claude Juncker and the Prime Minister of Estonia Jüri Ratas.

The event was broadcasted live by the Estonian Public Broadcasting.
