- Von Krahl, Tallinn
Tallinn’s Von Krahl theatre was filled with the powerful music of American influential post-punk band Swans. The evening’s special guest was indie folk troubadour James Blackshaw. Swans’ band leader Michael Gira has commented on the group’s name choice, saying: “Swans are majestic and beautiful creatures with bad tempers.” “Beautiful and brutal” are adjectives that pop up often in reviews of the band’s characteristics. Gira has described Swans’ concerts as “transcendental for the soul and destructive for the body”, which also refers to the fact that their early concerts were so loud and physical that many in the audience vomited as a result.
